Calendar Movie Review

The film Calendar, produced by Adarsh Gunduraj and directed by Naveen Shakti, features Adarsh Gunduraj, Nivishka Patil, Sushmita, Malashree, Ramesh Indira, Pramod Shetty and others in key roles.
The story revolves around an intriguing question — is he good or bad? The protagonist, a doctor, appears to be a good person on the outside but is wanted in two murder cases. His constant escape from the police, and how it connects to the idea of a “Calendar,” forms the central hook of the film.
One of the biggest positives of the film is its subject. It attempts to explore the psychological changes women go through during their menstrual cycle — a theme that is rarely addressed in Kannada cinema. The effort to weave this concept into a narrative is commendable. Adarsh Gunduraj, as an actor, producer, and writer, deserves credit for backing such a unique idea.
The highlight of the film is clearly the last 10 minutes. The research angle, the core idea behind it, and the way it is presented bring a distinct identity to the film. This portion has the strongest potential to connect with the audience.
Performance-wise, Adarsh Gunduraj makes a sincere attempt to bring intensity to his character. Staying within his “Smiling Star” image, he tries to handle different shades of the role. Ramesh Indira and Pramod Shetty stand out in their respective roles, and the supporting cast overall adds value to the narrative.
Technically, the cinematography helps set the tone of the film, while the music works well in certain moments to elevate scenes.
That said, the film could have been more engaging with a tighter screenplay. Some portions feel slow, which might test the audience’s patience.
Overall, Calendar stands out for its unique subject and intent. Despite its flaws, it offers something different, and the climax in particular makes it a one-time watch.
Rating – 3/5.
